Any opinions on this car?

I'll post anyway

I suspected yesterday that we were discussing this car with the owner, but like Ebay car pictures, you can never be sure. Xcyter - I hope you get what the car is worth.

Adam - I bought one off Ebay a few years ago - sightunseen. The main flaws were superficial and obvious to see (keeping the bidding down). When I contacted the vendor, I asked for specific pictures (noted caution points listed on ZHome) in high res. The vendor supplied dozens virtually without reservation.

I bought the car (good price), but still found a number issues that were invisible even in high res photos. Both my cars were bought sight unseen - I don't know how else to do it when you live 5000 miles away from anything worth looking at. Both worked out fairly well.

When I see a post like this I apply my parinoid perspective and point out things that would make me think negatively. Overspray is a reliable sign of a crappy paintjob (didn't have time to tape?) - always sets off my alarms - thinking in terms of what is being hidden. It is always important to look at these cars that way because they are slick looking vehicles, easy to photograph in a positive light and grossly prone to rot (even in car that looks sweet).

For me - I am always looking.

Was that a double entendre?

There was never any question of who the seller was for me. I recognized the user name on Ebay and took xcyter's posts on this thread as a tongue in cheek response to others remarks about his car. I don't believe there ever was any deception intended, only his slanted version of defending his car, which by the way seems to be worthy of a good looking over. I just figure it must be tough for some people to take criticism of their much loved Z, deserved or not.

Wow, so many people upset at xcyter. I think half of y'all should upset at yourselves at not being able to figure out he was the seller in half the time a 3 year old could've!

That's all.....I'll just sit back and keep LOL

Bingo!

I am 61 years old, bought a new 1972 Z in 72 kept it for a bout 5 years and am now thinking of buying one again. I probably want something in restored condition as I do not want to do anything to it when I get i but drive it on the week ends. Originally I had Lime green, I think 112#.

If I see something that I am considering, I may ask your opinion. Hope thats ok. I never really like Orange but maybe would consider it now if the car was really good.

It may be a few years before I can buy a car, but it is fun to look at them and get opinions.

No disrespect nor would I wish any bad luck... but at 61 I wouldn't wait. After you pass 68 you have a better chance of having time to wait...

Secondly - the longer you wait - the more expensive these cars will be.. Money is cheap right now - take out a small loan, buy a 240Z now - then make small payments until you are ready to spend time on it...

FWIW,

Carl B.

64 and no time to wait any longer...
