I will keep an eye out for a better replacement, and you guys are great for making some parts... do for now... until it can be fixed correctly. george71z Posted March 20, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 20, 2009 I have been having the same problem. My horn button would pop off when I hit a bump or under hard acceleration. Looked at the fix in the post from Geezer, and went out to the garage to see if it would work. My horn button was fine. However, the nylon ring on the steering wheel, with the 3 metal plates that hold the button on, was not 100%. Part of the ring behind (dashbd. side) one of those plates was missing. I checked a spare wheel I had in the attic, and the nylon ring was intact. Pushed the horn button on it and had a hell of a time getting it off! Looks like I'll have to look over the posts about restoring the steering wheel, as this wheel is not as nice as the one in the car. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

george71z Posted March 22, 2009 Share #12 Posted March 22, 2009 I dismantled my wheel, and took off the nylon ring. As you can see from the att. pics, it's in poor shape.
