Vacuum Advance?

So I think we finally narrowed down the issues with only being able to go half throttle to the vacuum advance. I've been looking for the part everywhere, but can't seem to get any hits. I'm not sure if I'm asking for the right thing. We've been going for a Vacuum Advance Canister, and they've been looking into the distributor parts and still can't find anything.

I'm wondering if anyone knows the exact part name for this, or if you may know where to get one. It's the little saucer that's attached to the distributor. When pulling off the vacuum line and sucking on the line, nothing changes with the way the motor is running. It also seems to be stuck when we pull the cap off and see how the advance moves.

Any suggestions would be wonderful! Thank you!

It's called the Vacuum Control Assembly.

On the vacuum bell is a little arm that attaches to the fix plate, disconnect that arm and try sucking in the hose, if the arm moves it works, then put your thonge at the end of the hose to maintain tha vacuum, if the arm moves back you have a leak, if it stay the assembly works and you have to look at the plates that Arne is referring to.

It's quite common for the advance plate in the distributor to be bound up. Between the 2 plates, the one that in anchored by the screw to the housing and the one the canister rotates is a locator keepers that holds three ball bearings in place so the 2 plates will turn in relation to each other. Often times the plastic keeper has degraded allowing the ball bearings to go where ever they want to go thus binding the advance plate thus no advance..... We tore down several distributors last weekend and found only one of the locator keepers intact. Once a ball bearing or two exits the scene, the top plate will/can **** to one side which isn't good either.

I would hate to guess how many L-motor distributors there are running around out there that have this problem, but I'd guess there are a bunch.

There are 6 new plates in the NISSAN sytem for I think I was told like $80. We are thinking of having some aluminum locator keepers laser cut because this is one of those problems that is only going to get worse over time. A problem at this point is trying to figure out how many variants they made and which distributor had which version.

Just another case of someone stepping up and making those pieces that are drying up

Thanks for the part numbers. I need something for an '83 zx if you happen to know that number.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I was thinking I probably needed to go out and pull apart the distributor to see exactly what was causing the issues.

With your electronic distributor PN 22136H-0501 which I was told had superceded any other plates for the electronics. They showed 6 in the Memphis warehouse. This came from Riley back in VA..... If it's out there he knows where to find it.
