So who has installed speed bleeders???

I gotta do a front brake job on my Z when I'm able to get her out of winter storage (Hopefully soon :) ) and I'm liking what I've been reading on them so far.

With these Speed Bleeders with the check valve that closes once you release the brake pedal, is it still required to have the opposite end of the hose submerged in brake fluid??? Also I want to start fresh with new fluid so I'm going to want to bleed the master cylinder first. Can these speed bleeders be used at the master cylinder as well or not???

Thanks in advance guys. I'm new to these speed bleeder screws :D

Hi, I put them on my '73. They make the bleeding a bit easier as they don't suck air when you let up on the pedal. If you get the bag that comes as a kit it is no mess, also. Fronts and rears are different part #s and the clutch is the same as one of them, but it's been so long I don't remember which. The bottom line is that they work great so far.

Cheers, Mike

What I have been using is a cheep little kit I bought at harbor fright. Ask for the ''one man bleeder'' Vary easy to make your self. It consists of a small plastic bottle , 3 or 4 oz., with a magnet attached to it . Drill a hole in the top for a plastic hose that slips over the drain ''nipple'' on the cylinder or caliper then when in the bottle it extends to the bottom. You simply add about 1/2'' of brake fluid to the bottle and insert the hose . Connect the tubeing to the nipple and open the nipple. I usually pump four pumps then top off the master cylinder. Check the bottle to be sure it isn't over filled. Just check the tubing for bubbles , when none is seen close the ''nipple''. The magnet on the bottle allows you to just stick it on the suspension to hold it in place. Allow your self 18'' or so of tubing so you can easily attach the bottle to something metal. I looked at the speed bleeders a couple of years ago and read several threads on hybridz where some were having trouble with them leaking. There was also a home made pressure bleeder that some were building for this . However the simple method works so well for me, have no need to complicate the process. I have been using a similar method to this kit for over 40+ yrs , but the magnet idea is a great improvement.

Cool. Thanks again for your responses guys.

Arne - Good to know for sure about the end of the hose not having to be submerged with the speed bleeders. Thats kinda what I figured being that the check valve closes as the brake pedal is released.

Pop's Z (Mike) - Happy to hear that they have served you well and that you like them. I looked up the Pt. No. last night on there website. For others who maybe interested in them they are SB1010 for the front disk brakes and SB7100 for the rear drums. (Haven't found anything for the master cylinder yet. Probably will have to shoot them an E-Mail)

beandip (Gary) - Thanks for sharing your method for bleeding the brakes with the Kit you mentioned from Harbor Freight. Other options are always appreciated. On speedbleeder.com they say that now they have a thread sealer available for the threads for when the existing thread sealant thats already on them new gets old and wears out over time. Must be there correction for the seeping issue over time.

I use these on all four corners. First, I use stock bleeders and reverse bleed the system (calipers to MC). Then I swap out for speed bleeders and bleed normally. Yes, I use a container to catch the fluid. It also helps for a visual for insuring I got all of the air out. Works like a charm.

Where did you get the speed bleeders? Do you have manufacturer & part number?

I haven't purchased them yet. I Haven't been able to even get my Z out of winter storage yet but I will be for sure getting them. The more I read up on them, the more I like them. Anything like these that can make work easier for me, I'm sold LOL

I listed the part #'s in post #5 (SB1010 for the front disk brakes and SB7100 for the rear drums.) Here is the direct link for ordering http://speedbleeder.zoovy.com/ I think I'm going to add the Speed Bleeder Bag & Hose Combo to my order when I do buy them

Just thought I would throw in my experience for reference. I have had them on my show car for about 8 years. Have had no issues whatsoever. It is very true that you don't want to hamfist them as they WILL break.

I have had them on my race car for about 4 years. Again, no issues. If you do alot of bleeding, I recommend getting the tube of sealant to re-caulk the threads occasionally. I also recommend the optional clear fluid collection bag.

I bought a 10' section of tight fitting clear tubing and connect it to the collection bag. I can attach it to any corner of the car and watch the fluid flow into the bag, right from the driver's seat. You can easily see when the bubbles stop. This set-up has worked great for me.

I have also put them on all of the other bleeders on the car: master cylinder, and clutch slave.

To each his own, but I like them alot.

Thats what I've been trying to find out. What is the Part No. for the brake master cylinder??? I tried E-mailing Speedbleeder.com and they never answered my E-mail. Do you remember what they are?? I too would like to get them for the master cylinder.
