I picked up the an early 74 260Z yesterday. It has Dual Webers DGV 32/36. It was idling good but rich and the timing was off a bit when I picked it up but on the way home it started sputtering in 3rd gear, then stalled then backfired a fireball which scared the hell out of me. I couldn't get it to idle at all after that, had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it from stalling. With my limited knowledge of carbs I didn't want to touch them however some old guys stopped by and tried to help, but didn't. So as a last resort I called the previous owner and asked him for some help. He came over and after a few hours narrowed the problem down to carbs.

The previous owner rebuilt the carbs last week. Both floats were set to 35 mm prior to the rebuild and he reset them to factory specs of 41 mm. He is coming over today to put them back to 35 mm. Does this sound like it may help.

I have mine at 36mm and have no problem. The dual DVG isnt a popular mod on this board. My car came with them too, and they run fine so I see no need to spend over a grand for remanufactured originals. Getting them tuned is a bit of black magic.

If you have a vacum guage, you can adjust the idle circuit for the best (highest) vacum. This really helps. I have a tuning guide link around somewhere, I will forward it to you once I figure out what file I saved it in!
