trout_hound Posted April 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2009 The rear hatch button on my 72 240z suddenly doesn't work, and I can't get the latch to open. I shot it full of grease, and will continue to keep working it, but I now can't remember whether the keyhole is vertical or horizontal when unlocked. Can someone take a peek at their Z and help me out? Thanks!DT
KDMatt Posted April 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2009 The keyhole is horizontal when it is unlocked, and vertical when locked. To lock/unlock, you insert the key without pressing the button down, and twist.Push down when horizontal and it should work. sblake01 Posted April 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) It's horizontal when unlocked. Edited April 6, 2009 by sblake01 KDMatt beat me to it!
trout_hound Posted April 6, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted April 6, 2009 Thanks. Obviously I've tried it both ways, and it still doesn't work. But at least now I can focus on trying to get it to open when its actually unlocked!DT
bpilati Posted April 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2009 I wouldn't recommend pumping grease into it.
overdrivex Posted April 6, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 6, 2009 almost sounds like your gonna have to go in through the inside and pull the lever manually
trout_hound Posted April 6, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted April 6, 2009 I wouldn't recommend pumping grease into it.I just shot some WD-40 type stuff in there. Didn't help though. Sounds like I'm going to have to pry all the panels off and dig around to get it to open. Pain in the arse!I finally got to drive the car to work for the first time ever today though, despite its flaws...
