My dual exhaust build

Hi guys, now it is my time to make a dual exhaust thread.

Since my car came with a 2.5 inch exhaust there after my taste was way to loud, i decided to make my version of the Clifford dual system, my decision was to use 1 3/4 inch pipe, being that it should be the same as 2.5 inch pipe in opening, some might remember this: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33819

The exhaust was suppose to have the same mufflers in the middle the same as the glasspack at the back, the guy at the parts store made a mistake and ordered tha wrong ones, well i talked him down to $16 a piece, decided to use them and if it don't works it won't be such a big loss.

I still need to make tips at the end, just have to figure out how they shall be made, but i promice you guys that it have one of the best sounds.

All parts used comes from Swedish "Simons" and is a good quality

In the 4th picture it looks like the first set of glasspacks is touching the body of the car. Is there space there? I would think direct contact would cause problems, making the floor much hotter.

Looks pretty nice, I hope you can record a video so we can hear it

It dosen't touch but it is vey close, the clearance is a ½ inch on that photo i actually flipped the middle section up side down, witch makes the rear section pull it towards the left side and also makes it sit higher.

I also need to make some proper brackets for the middle section, but all is closed for easter here and it can wait.

I will post a video clip but not before i get the engine to run good.

Reading the thread about the Monza exhaust being NLA, I've been thinking about a true dual system. Have you managed to get it running well yet? I can't wait to hear it in action!

Man, looking at this thread just makes me cringe that I haven't heard my own system run yet. Soon the car will be painted and then vroom baby.

That system looks nice and oughta sound good, I am only using one set of glasspacks, but I installed an X pipe hoping to kill some of the resonance. I might have to get a quieter muffler eventually. That narrow tunnel makes it hard to fit anything in there. I just went with some tips that looked good Some pics of mine--

The engine is running well now, i just need to get hold of some exhaust tips, i can't seem to find anything here, i'm looking after a resonated dual tip with 1 3/4 inch inlet and a 2½ OD, like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220405725907&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123 this seller won't ship outside the states and i'm not able to bid.

So if any one know of a good source and likes to help me get one, please raise your hand and shout.

Thanks Arne, it really don't have to be Hooker, my idea is to cut the two tips off and then weld them on to the glass packs, two single is also usefull as long as they are not to long.

Okay guys, here is a small video clip, i still need to figure out some tips, so for the moment i just plugged in two pieces of pipe.

That sounds great Chris! It just goes to show, you can get great results for not too much money if you have the skills needed. I'm looking forward to hearing madkaw's also. The exhaust system is something I have on the back burner, but am always thinking about and I appreciate you guys showing us how you did it.
