Ken B. Posted April 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2009 Back in the early 80's does anyone recall a large aftermarket source and custom garage up in Clifton, NJ that was maybe called ZAPP? This was bacl around the time Jim Cook racing was big in the Z car aftermarket too. I remember driving up there from Phila one day and they were pretty impressive with several V8 Z's in showroom floor.Just curious :classic:also is anyone still dealing with Jim Cook? I recall his wife taking over the business after Jim but this was already several years ago. they go by so fast anymore.
26th-Z Posted April 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2009 Might you be refering to the ZZzap edition; special package 280Z sold in North America? Very similar in scope to the Black Pearl edition and sold at the same time. I'll bet Zhome has a write-up.

JonnyRock Posted April 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2009 I didn't know why it was called the 'ZZZAP' before just now. Reading that advertisement was very cool. It's interesting to note that the Z in the ad doesn't have the appearance package!
DatsunZsRule Posted April 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 9, 2009 Very similar in scope to the Black Pearl edition and sold at the same time. I'll bet Zhome has a write-up.Well not sold at the exact same time. Correct me if I'm wrong but if my memory serves me right the Zap editions were 1977 and Black Pearl's were 1978 Correct? Ken B. Posted April 9, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted April 9, 2009 I could be getting my references mixed up after 20s years but I do know that the 3 major catalouges for after market Zs in the US (at that time - 1985?) came from Jim Cook Racing, Motorsport and this company in Clifton NJ with Motorsport not the king at that time. And Victoria British (Black Dragon) seemed am upstart at this time. This is just a nostalgic point I suppose but nostalgia is something I value, thus it's part of the reason I love the Z.still thinking it was called Zapp.....but would love more feedback from anyone recalling. twsutt Posted April 16, 2009 Share #8 Posted April 16, 2009 Ken,As far as catalogs that specialized in Z's, could you be thinking of Tweeks (maybe Tweaks)?
