mally002 Posted April 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2009 I thought I would try and start putting a few pieces back on the engine bay, but I just can't remember where this goes......I put it on the firewall just to show the item (a relay I guess). I know it doesn't go there, it was just to show the piece but where does it attach........... Thanks, Randy
MikeW Posted April 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 19, 2009 I don't see anything like that on my '72. Where do the wires go? Is this an automatic?
ChrisZ Posted April 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 19, 2009 Randy it looks as this on. Chris
TVollnogle Posted April 19, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) Randy, Do you have a/c? From your pic, it looks similar to my a/c relay which was mounted in about the same location. Pic is below. Terry Edited April 19, 2009 by TVollnogle Terminology
mally002 Posted April 19, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) Hey guys,It's a 1970 model with aftermarket air that I am going to remove. It is a 4spd. There is quite a bit more "slack" in the wires, I would say another 14-18 inches so it could reach almost anywhere. The main black wire goes back into the firewall under the hood catch. Thanks for the input. TVollnogle Posted April 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) Randy,I'm pretty sure then that it's the a/c relay. I figured out how to add a picture in my post above. Think there were about 4 wires coming from it. One went forward to the a/c compressor, the others went inside to the temp control, etc. Edited April 19, 2009 by TVollnogle Terminology
TVollnogle Posted April 19, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 19, 2009 Randy, Correction on my terminology: I called it an a/c solenoid. It's the a/c relay for carrying the heavy draw to the a/c compressor. And your vintage aligns with the a/c that was put on my '70, 4/70 #3212.Terry
mally002 Posted April 19, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted April 19, 2009 Thanks Terry,I guess I can actually just remove it since I'm pulling the a/c out. Thanks for the info.
Arne Posted April 20, 2009 Share #9 Posted April 20, 2009 I think that's correct. None of my '71s (including the Series 1) had that part.
