Just out of curiosity and boredom, where does everyone get there parts from? Looking at stuff like alternators, elec pumps, starters, hardware, rubber bits, you know just the basic everyday stuff to keep these things going year after year.

For the items you listed , most all are available at your local parts store. Except for the door seals and the like. The trim pieces can some times be a little difficult. Like I am running metal script badges on my 240. If you wanted this sort of stuff maybe ebay. The plastic ones are available from MSA and Black Dragon and several other places. Carburetors, SUs, look to Ztherapy .

Thanks everyone for the comments. I just recieved my catalog CD from MSA, didn't realise the amount of stuff they don't list on their web page. Thanks Beandip, I've already rebuilt my SU's by way of ZTherapy. Was going to fire them up but my fuel pump is dead. Think it may have ingested something . . . so out comes the fuel tank. Ouch, this is going to cost!!!

Are you running the stock mechanical pump? My car has a filter before the pump, that should catch any large debris headed for the pump (unless the filter isn't stock). I would cut open the fuel filter if equipped to see what's inside before dropping the tank. Possibly just an old pump that failed?

'70 Cam Guy, no filter was installed before the fuel pump by PO. My bad, I had previously checked the fuel tank, fuel lines for contamination, to include blowing out the lines and draining the tank (2X no debris). I knew I should have pulled the tank and boiled it etc but didn't in my haste to get her fired up. Expensive lesson, should know better, but the tank is out and at the shop. So, best guesstimate is about $230+ to do job right.

In addition to those mentioned here, I get a large majority of my parts at my local Nissan Dealer. Some dealers don't seem to be able to look up early Z parts anymore (mine has no problems with that), but if you have the club parts list CD and give them the part numbers, there's a surprising amount of stuff still available from the factory.

It's cool, I just wanted to toss that out there just in case.

Too bad you had to pull the tank but you'll have nice peace of mind when it's back under the car. When my dad rebuilt his old CJ-2A in the 80s, we were replacing fuel filters left and right until he had the tank treated. It's been good for years now.

To echo the others, I'm also a believer in OE parts, especially oil filters. If my filter isn't a Napa Gold (which is really a Wix premium), I'm going to the dealer.

Courtesy either has or will get and ship many more parts than are listed on thier site. Don't be suprised to find that much of the stuff listed on Ebay by a few sellers is readily available, and cheaper at Courtesy. You may have to wait on hold for a bit. I live 5 miles from there, and get a Z club of Texas discount, so I frequently get parts for the same price as lesser quality, aftermarket parts, which I have learned to stay away from when possible.:laugh:
