Posted April 25, 200915 yr comment_281755 Greg won the first EP race at VIR from the pole. He looked to repeat it on Sunday and took the lead at the start and set a new track record in EP of 2:06.3 on lap 3. A broken stub axle put him out on the next lap. Here are some pics from the weekend. April 25, 200915 yr comment_281757 Great Pics. I'd sure like to hear his comments on why he has chosen to run without the legendary BRE type rear spoiler.Phred Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31644-ira-sets-new-ep-track-record-at-vir/#findComment-281757 Share on other sites
April 25, 200915 yr comment_281759 The spoiler is not legal in SCCA E production. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31644-ira-sets-new-ep-track-record-at-vir/#findComment-281759 Share on other sites

April 26, 200915 yr comment_281786 I guess I should have known that. I held an SCCA license for 18 years. SCCA and their stupid rules. They'll let you spend thousands of dollars building the trickest E-prod car in the world, but you can't put a spoiler on it. Yet it was legal on a C-Prod 240. Not to change the flow of the thread, I still like the pics, and Greg's car.Phred Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31644-ira-sets-new-ep-track-record-at-vir/#findComment-281786 Share on other sites

April 26, 200915 yr Author comment_281800 Thanks! This is the way the car ran last year. Greg took pole at the Runoffs and finished third in the race. April 26, 200915 yr comment_281843 Like the way that car sits flat in corners with the wheels vertical and full face tyre contact with the road. Inside wheel lift noted too. Very impressive for a S30. Nearly as impressive as my S130 Edited April 26, 200915 yr by 260DET Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31644-ira-sets-new-ep-track-record-at-vir/#findComment-281843 Share on other sites
April 27, 200915 yr comment_281913 Mark,Great pics as always and thanks for the props. The tire contact patch being so good is from two things. Our geometry is decent for that old car and the tires we use. The cantilevered SportsCar special is quite something. Almost 10 inches of tire patch and very little static negative camber used. Half a degree would be heavy. The car runs as it did the second half of the season last year. VIR did some things to the course which gave us extra grip. They diamond ground some of the corners or something like that. My car actually wasn't handling as well as I would have liked. The engine was awesome as usual.Greg Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/31644-ira-sets-new-ep-track-record-at-vir/#findComment-281913 Share on other sites

April 28, 200915 yr comment_282024 I heard Greg might be trying out some new suspension that Sam made sound like its working! He looks like its hooked up good. A lot of new record were set this weekend. They have worked on the track and from what I have heard most were very happy about it. Appearently the cars were hooking up so well several people broke parts in the driveline/suspension.
