Posted October 1, 200222 yr comment_16494 Has anyone had any experience with using a triple hitachi setup. i am currently running standard twin hitachis on a L26 motor. looking for improved performance (acceleration).Heard good things and bad but in a quandary whether to convert over to this type of setup or save my bikkies for something else. October 1, 200222 yr comment_16504 Only time I have seen a triple SU set-up on a Z, the guy had to fabricate his own manifold. Luckily for him one of his relatives owned a foundry that could cast one. No known manifold made for the swap. :disappoin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3165-hitachi-carbys/#findComment-16504 Share on other sites
October 1, 200222 yr comment_16505 Hello,I have been told that the stock "round tops" that were produced earlier that your flat top Hit's will deliver all the fuel that the motor needs. Currently I am in the process of switching over to the round tops from the flats on my '73 240...The performance is much better from the homework that I have done. You may want to check out Ztherapy.com, they have some excellent advice.Good luck!Bri. October 1, 200222 yr comment_16510 This is only my opinion and i'm sure that a lot of people will disregard what I say but the inline six with a firing order of 153624 doesn't lend itself to triple setups of SU type carbs because the atomisation of the air fuel mixture for cylinders 3&4 is not the same as for 1&2 and 5&6 which means the middle of your engine is not performing as well as each end. This is a very simple explanation which can be gone into in much detail but we dont have the room. Triple setups should be of the webber type carbies to avoid this intake pulse problem.Al. October 1, 200222 yr comment_16523 In some sick way that makes total sense... Now just tell me how to tune my triple mikuni setup and we'll be great. I actually have a somewhat dead number 1 hole that I need to address. This motor is on the '74 260. But that's a whole different posting... Ya'll have a great Tuesday!!!
