Lots of looks, but not many bids on my 71.

Here are a few of the emails I got..............

"Dear seller, If you end the auction now I will send you $3500 cash!...don't delay"..........

"Dear seller, you do realize your car is 38 years old, I will give you $2,000 for it if you end the auction now and haul it away for free"

But my favorite is......"Dear seller, The Datsun brand is no longer being made, parts can't be found and the 240 was the worst of the Z series. I wil be happy to send you $3,000 for the car if you end the auction now".

I was actually looking forward to the emails just to bring a little laughter to my day.

Do these clowns think that you were born yesterday or what?? It's just funny how stupid some people are :stupid:

Randy, I think you should feel lucky if you get the $4,300 that's currently being bid on the car.

The pictures of the floor are scary. Then you have rusty front suspension components, leaky rack boots, rusty rivets for the VIN plate with overspray, rust by the tc rod mounting points, cobwebs on the lower control arm, etc. The patch below the ID plate in the engine bay appears to be tack welded only and not very good either. I wouldn't want to be the welder who has to undue those floors in order to install new ones.

It's as if these pics were from two different cars, (one restored / one worn out).

I hope you get what you want for the car and the new owner enjoys it for many, many years. Good luck with #797.

BD,

Don't hold back, tell me how you really feel................LOL

As I said earlier, I want to show everything I can about the car. I really could have displayed the pictures to show a "restored" car, but it's not,it's a really nice clean driver. Yes, the issues you pointed out should be attended to if you want to show the car and have it judged, but mechanically it is fine.

My welder has already looked over the car, he's ready to do the floors (he also just finished the floors on 797) and said no big deal. I really should spend about $1500 to do the floors and componets, and a nice engine detail then relist in the fall. Might have to do that anyway because the car is not near the reserve price, and I don't have to sell it.

Thanks for pointing out those areas, because while I see them they don't register an alarm to me, but others see things I don't so I appreaciate the critisism.

I saw your add as well and wondered why you were selling. probably not the best time to do so as others have stated. I'm not sure I'd be dumping money in it to get the price up as you rarely get back the money you have invested. It would be a shame to invest another $1500 in the car only to see the price go up $500-$750. Anyway, good luck with whatever decision you make. At least you will still have one Z when all is said and done.
