Just got back from our family vacation to Florida. On Sunday, we ventured to Kenedy Space Center and met a 'real' astronaut... ok, I was just as excited as my four year old son. Anyway, someone asked if NASA buys all astronauts Corvettes like they did during the early missions and he fessed up that he has always owned a Z car... first one in 1971.

He just confirmed what we all know -- Z's are out of this world!

Not just astronauts love Z's. My cousins husband is retired Navy Commander / Intruder Pilot. Career Navy, Naval Academy, the whole nine yards. He's had one of those orange 280's since it was new. Now he flies for Southwest and is based out of Oakland but lives in Montana. Keeps the Z somewhere in Oakland to drive when he is in town. The funny thing is that he bought an orange one because it's his favorite color. Just about everything he owns is bright orange. Yuck. To each his own. At least it's a Z!

Well, my father purchased a orange Z with white interior back in 1972 for $3400 new. He is also a veteran of 4 shuttle missions and the 1st american aboard the MIR space station in 1995. So now you can say 2 astronauts that you know of love Z's. BTW, when I 1st thought of getting a 240Z in 1993 I was a bit skeptical. However, when I sat in the car the smell reminded me of when I was little driving around in my fathers car! SOLD!
