Posted May 20, 200915 yr comment_284176 Should there be a gasket between the fender and the headlight case ? I did not see one listed in MSA or Black dragon. I used 3M seam sealer between the fender and the headlight case and since it has been painted it does not look good at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. May 20, 200915 yr comment_284186 Darrell 240Z, Yes, there was a rubber gasket which is called "Packing-Front Fender", part number 63811-E4101. From my attempts to locate these, which have come up empty, they are apparently No Longer Available. If you anyone has a couple of extra stashed away, I'll take two, thank you!DanAlmost forgot, I think you could just use a bit of rope calk to seal these pieces together, but, I too would be interested in other opinions. May 20, 200915 yr comment_284187 But note that not all cars had them - they were apparently used as needed on original assembly. My car had none when I removed the headlight buckets for the first time in the car's life last year. From earlier discussions here, I think more cars came without than with. I recall Carl saying something about them being installed only if the panel fit looked bad without. May 20, 200915 yr comment_284201 My 73 came with them and they fell apart in my hands when I took the buckets off. At the time (before CZCC) I knew I needed something there because of painted metal to painted metal to reduce chips. I made my own out of a tire inner tube. Made a paper templet, paper hole punch for the screws. They fit tight when finished, shows loose fit. Then the thread came up about not really needing them, but already had them made, so used them. Looks very much like it did before, black seal between parts, with careful trimming.
