This thread got me to use the search feature to find out why when I fill my 73 I get a leak....but only when the tank is full after I burn off a gallon or two it no longer leaks. I could not find any former talks of that using the search....it also leads to fumes in the car too of course. I seems to be leaking from the top of the tank and not any of the sides. Opinions? or shoud I search with the search feature more? Or did I just high jack?

There are three braided hoses that mount at the top of the gas tank (I circled them in different colors in the attached picture). One is at the front of the right side (green circle), one at the back of the right side (red circle) and one at the back of the left side (blue circle). If the leak is near the filler area and only leaks when it is completely full, I think it would be the hose that mounts at the front of the right side of the tank (green circle). I had a small leak in this area on my 72 recently, so I pulled the tank and repainted it and sealed it while I had it out. The hose was split near where it attaches to the tank. I would bet yours has the same problem.

Right on Mike, I think you might be right. It looks to be s simple fix and I should get on it real soon...I hate wasting gas. It also could be the red circle area because it did leak one time after a fill up when I parked it on an incline on my driveway. Both are accessable so I will check them both out. Thanks again for the input.

My name is Gary. I have a 1973 240Z I just took out of storage and brought to Florida. It runs well, has 48,000 miles on it. I had it serviced including drain the gas tank and put fresh, clean the plugs, flush the radiator and bleed the clutch. My problem is there is a strong smell of raw gasoline in the cabin. Nothing is dripping or leaking and there is no smell of gasoline outside the cabin. There is no gas smell in the carpets from shoes. The service tech said, if the gas cap is not on correctly the cabin will smell, but the cap is on correctly. Anyone have any ideas? Help……

The Gary Cohen I knew should be use to a gas smell... Albeit Sevoflurane or Desflurane... Are you from Oregon Gary?

If your engine is running rich and your rear hatch seal is not good, you may have a gas/exhaust smell in the cabin...
