Hard to find parts. Fuel Damper/Fuel injector gaskets

Does anyone know were I can find a fuel damper for a 75 280z? I've tried NAPA, Autozone, OReilly's, and even ebay but no luck. Also I'm putting in new fuel injectors but I can't find gaskets. I can get the seals but no one has the gaskets. New mounting brackets don't come with gaskets, are they designed to be used with out gaskets?

for the dampener, try the dealer, Courtesy Nissan, or use one for a 280ZX(available aftermarket a week ago), it has different mounting, but does the same job.

The injectors use only the seals-they function as gaskets. If you are after gaskets for the mounting hardware, it would change the spacing tolerance.

Now for the injectors, all you need is the top and bottom 0 rings that fit onto the injectors. Remember to put a light coat of oil on the new 0 rings. When I did mine a while back I put a light coat of 3 in 1 Oil on mine. Worked great. Z Car source has the 0 rings too and so does Courtesy Nissan if you don't have those.

Thanks to both of you for the feedback, I was wondering if the gaskets were even necessary. Thats the first place I've seen a dampner for a z so far.

Need the part number for the upper/lower fuel injector gaskets or no...should be able to get them from your local Nissan dealer without to much trouble...helps if you have the part number(s) in hand when you go in to see them tho...and if they are really dense..show them a picture...

When a seller does not include the Nissan Part number, it usually means they don't want a buyer to be able to check the dealer or any other third party source for pricing-remember our Ebay buddy red-dat...

Some strange things I noticed about ZCar Source:

1)The New dampener that ZCarSource sells for $118.31 they add $24 to ship...seems awful high for something that could go priority mail anywhere in the USA in three days or so for around $8(including the box, and free pickup!).

2)Shipping on the same part used is $12...the used one is smaller and weighs less?

The same(assuming it is the factory part) fuel pressure dampener from my Nissan dealer runs me $105 with tax.

Always check prices if time and money is important. I can get almost any part that is still available from my local dealer in three business days, and normally less expensively than anywhere else once you add the shipping charges in.

The best way to shop for parts is to

1) Get a club CD,

2) Use it to locate your part numbers,

3) Call the Dealer, check CourtesyParts, and any other vendors you want to check-always find out what shipping will be-a lowball price plus even reasonable shipping is not always less expensive than the dealer...

In the example above-My dealer charges 105+tax works out to 111.30, a good bit less expensive than the cost of the part at ZCarSource, much less the $142.09 I would have to pay them for it-even though as an uninformed buyer that might sound good! I can think of something esle to do with the $30 than lose it for not taking 5 minutes to shop the price-on the exact same item.

4) Order the part,and figure out the next thing you need for your Z!

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that it's smart to shop around. I do the same thing. But I got nothing but good to say about Z Car Source. First off, my local Nissan dealers here in MN. aren't with a damn and don't even know what a Classic Z is much less find a part for it. Courtesy Nissan out of Texas is fantastic and I've gotten plenty of items through them as well but whenever they can't get something for me like my Fuel Rail that was No longer Avail. For example, I called up good old Z Car Source and they were very helpful "Oh sure sir we've got that part for you." I've noticed too that sometimes there prices aren't always the best deal on certain things too but on alot of hard to get items that are no longer available through Nissan, they just have always been able to come through for me. Sometimes you don't have a choice but to eat a little higher price for a hard to get item. Thats just the way it goes sometimes unfortunately. It all depends.

If he's able to find the damper he needs at Nissan for less than by all means, go through the dealer. From what I gathered he was having difficulties locating one so figured I'd mention Z Car Source as another option for him.

Other than the shipping charge goofiness, I wasn't knocking ZSource, just pointing out that all currently available OEM parts come from a dealer, and that shipping charges are sometimes a deal breaker.

I agree that some dealers are better than others, that is why step Number 1 is to get a club CD and find your own part numbers! Some dealers do find it easier to avoid using Efast to hunt down a part number, but when you give them a part number, they have no reason to avoid punching it in and seeing what is what! You just saved them what most parts people consider the most aggravating part of parts look ups, and cut the time it takes by at least two thirds.

The real key is the club CD. Using it to find your own part numbers gets you on the parts counter persons good side, and assures you can price the exact same part everywhere.

When a part is truley rare, a good source is hard to beat-we used to have Chloe, and now we have to make do without her. But the only way to know a part is truely rare is to check the dealer and a couple of vendors. Hopefully no one here blindly trusts the use of the word "RARE" in an ebay ad. I think many Ebay sellers like Red-Dat simply choose not to write an ad with out using it!

Couldn't agree more about looking up the P/N yourself. Does for sure help with some dealers. My local dealership however is so damn dumb I tried to give them a P/N for something once and they still struggled. Said there system didn't go back that far. What a moron he was :stupid:
