series 1 price??

What's the going price for a series 1 240z these days? The car I'm looking at is white, 4 speed manual, and the body appears to be a good condition. The only thing it needs to be in driving order is a wheel cylinder and a battery. The seller is asking $2000. Sound about right? It seems worth it to me. I haven't gone to see it in person yet, so I can't tell for sure.

its like asking what is the best producer of Vanilla ice Cream (blue bell by the way) it worth whatever people pay. Premier examples of S30's go for high 20's low 30's. Great examples go for 8-14k. Good Examples go for 5-8k.

But these all vary depending on location, time of year, and the particulars of the buyer and seller.

2000 dollars for an S30 sounds great, but we would need pictures and what your goals of the car are, and how much do you want to spend in repairs.

Sounds like a hell of a deal if it's the original paint. If not... who know's what's lurking under there.

There was a guy who approached my father and I at the VA Beach meet. He said he had an all original 240z with no rust in amazing shape. He then continued to telll us it was painted burgundy a number of years back.

That's the problem when someone says they have a nice original S30. Most of the time it is far from the description. It is often hard to find the hidden problems under a re-paint unless you really know what to look for.

Another member on here bought a car that he thought was straight and it turned out to be mostly bondo and bad metal work underneath :(

I'm going to look at it today and I'll snap some pics. Hopefully it's mostly original. I like the white. I'll be selling my z31 turbo to buy this s30, so every dollar from that sale will go towards restoring the s30. Eventually I would like a rb25 or 1jz. Just a well powered street cruiser is what I'd want. But if it's really nice, I may do a factory restore.

Plenty of pics is the key. Post them up and let us at them. If you are able, get it up in the air and get pics of the pans and rails.

Please don't hack up and destroy a series I car, especially if it's mostly original and numbers matching.

As for price, the others have said it...we do not know enough about it to say. If it's got good mechanicals and no rust it's a good deal, even with a few mechanical issues or a little rust it's a good deal. If it's got a dead engine and tons of rust then it's not a good deal. Then there's everything in between. Get back to us after you've inspected it with you findings and pix.

Underbody and frame rails look very good. There is rust on the rear passenger wheelwell lip area, and rusty fenders, but the structure of the car seems to be very sound. Floor is good. It runs a little rough, I'm sure it has very old gas in it. I talked him to 1800. Hopefully I will have the cash available soon before he sells it. It has a header and twice pipes. :)

Beware Justin. Rust lurks where you dont see it. Chances are it has more rust than you think. If this doesn't intimidate you then I say go for it. These cars are worth saving and the effort you put into it will pay off! My car definately had more rust than I saw initially and requires more work than I planned but I'm up for it and can't wait till she's done. :)

If you are planning an hi-po engine swap rust is an even greater enemy, and if there's rust on the fenders, there's probably plenty of rust elsewhere. Check all the common rust areas on the Z very very well. I hear people recommend poking these areas with an ice pick or screwdriver to test them, but if anyone came near my car with either of these I would knock em' out cold.
