June 6, 200915 yr comment_285919 We should also remember that many (most?) Nissan accessories were simply US-made aftermarket parts that Nissan re-packaged. Often, the exact same part was available from other vendors without the Nissan packaging. So which is more "original"? June 13, 200915 yr Author comment_286528 To my eye, it doesn't look that bad... I used the silver colored vinyl insert and is a pretty close match to the paint. The pics aren't that good, but give you an idea of how it came out... June 13, 200915 yr comment_286584 That looks great! I just stripped off some old deteriorated wood grain vinyl molding from mine and I'm still debating on whether I should find a replacement. The wood vinyl sounds cheesy but since my paint is brown, it actually looked pretty good. February 3, 201213 yr comment_379644 Check it out on his link...one place actually has the channel with 3 colors of inserts. They said the tips are going fast. In the day, they would install these on the crease of 280ZXes...which was not the most outward edge of the car. I have these appropriately placed on mine and the problem is today's cars are so tall, and the doors so sculptured, that I doubt the molding really comes into play. I end up parking in the North forty on an end spot where I can hug the outer most edge. Here is what I need help finding. During the same era they made a 4" aluminum strip that was riveted on the bottom of the door from wheel well to wheel well. Anyone ever see any of this? Look at the bottom under the black strip. This car, BTW, is in PHX. Anyone own it? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32102-door-molding-install/?&page=2#findComment-379644 Share on other sites
