June 6, 200915 yr comment_285932 Needs to be plumbed into an air filter, like the factory did. Also, check to make certain your PCV valve isn't clogged. June 6, 200915 yr Author comment_285935 Thanks Arne;Needless to say factory filter has been removed. using Ramflo air filters on SU's.any suggestionsMoose70z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32117-breather-filter-issues/#findComment-285935 Share on other sites
June 6, 200915 yr comment_285941 The '70-72 factory air box will perform better than Ramflo's unless you have air horns inside them. SUs need a smooth airflow for good metering performance. So if you don't have air horns in them, plan to get some or replace the original air box.If you stay with the Ramflo's, drill a hole in the rear plate of one of them and plumb the breather to that. Get rid of the mini-filter entirely. And again, make certain that the PCV valve is not clogged. If you are spewing that much out the breather you may have excessive crankcase pressure. June 6, 200915 yr Author comment_285945 Thanks again Arne;I'll port the Ramflos for now and see how that works. I have not had any issues to date with carb function since emission sys. and factory airbox have been removed; aside from the oil fumes. Good idea to check PVC and crankcase pressure. Would the Cusco oil catch tank have any mitigating affect?Moose70z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32117-breather-filter-issues/#findComment-285945 Share on other sites
June 8, 200915 yr comment_286065 FWIW, I just changed from Longflo filters to the factory air cleaner, and couldn't be happier. The stock air box does perform a lot better, and the exhaust note is better also.
