June 9, 200915 yr comment_286166 The electric fuel pump was added to many of the 73 & 74's as one part of a multi-step fix to address problems with vapor lock. This was very common on these cars and mostly related to the dreaded flat top carbs these cars received here in the US. This is documented pretty well here in the forums and elsewhere. June 9, 200915 yr comment_286180 According to the 73-74 mod guide fuel pressure should read 3.4 to 4.2 lbs @ 1000 rpm at the fuel inlet line to the carb, so any pump that can put our between 3-5 lbs would be ideal. With such a small range a fuel pressure regulator would be a good idea when using anything other then a stock pump or one with a known output in this range. The round tops might be a little less sensitive to fuel higher pressures but I believe 5 lbs is as high as you want to go.
