Posted June 16, 200915 yr comment_286836 i need help from someone with a 2 plus 2 car as i think i've purchased an incorrect nos drip rail molding which was supposed to be for my 73 240z. the existing drip rail runs 20 inches up the window vertically and 36 inches horizontally along the roof line. the nos replacement i was shipped has the same 20 inch vertical rise, but runs 38 inches along the roof. does anyone know if this is for a newer car, ie post 73, or a 2 plus 2 model? if someone needs one, it's nos perfect in the bag. June 17, 200915 yr comment_287059 The drip rail for a 240/260/280 2 seater is the same. I have interchanged them. If yours is longer, then I'd say it's for a 2+2. I would think the 2+2 rail would be significantly different than a 2 seater because the roof line is so different. June 19, 200915 yr Author comment_287242 thanks, i had the same thoughts as you. the package still appears to have datsun labels on it so i'm going to stop by the nissan dealer and see if they have any ideas with identifying what/how its longer. old cars, you have to love them! June 19, 200915 yr comment_287257 thanks, i had the same thoughts as you. the package still appears to have datsun labels on it so i'm going to stop by the nissan dealer and see if they have any ideas with identifying what/how its longer. old cars, you have to love them!Post the part number and someone can check it for you. I doubt a Nissan dealer will be able to help identify a part from a 35 yr old car. Many don't even know what a "Datsun" is these days.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32218-drip-rail-identification240-versus-280-or-22/#findComment-287257 Share on other sites

June 23, 200915 yr Author comment_287711 thanks carl, that makes sense as to why this is too long. i didn't even realize there was a 2+2 model in 73. i guess these were the initial models. June 23, 200915 yr comment_287713 i didn't even realize there was a 2+2 model in 73.That would have been for 1974 model year 260Z 2+2s, which were manufactured beginning in Oct 1973.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32218-drip-rail-identification240-versus-280-or-22/#findComment-287713 Share on other sites
