Posted June 17, 200915 yr comment_287042 I have read through the forums regarding and just would like somebody with a little more expertise to give me there approval. I have a my 2.4L at the shop and they are tellin me my head is warped 12 thousands. They want to either shave this or cook it and reverse the bend. I am considering just shaving and buy some 15 thousands shims for the cam from thezstore.com and calling it a day. Any other concerns i should have or should i go with the oven and reverse bend method. I appreciate any advice.ThanksFrankie Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32239-warped-head-choices/ Share on other sites
June 18, 200915 yr comment_287065 My wife warped the head in our Toyota van many, many years ago. (Ran it with the lower radiator hose off) It was visibly warped. A shave was out of the question. I had it heated and pressed flat, and it ran great for another 10K miles before it was traded in. 12 thousandths is easily shaveable. I would go with that if you are uncomfortable with the heat and press, but it does work, and works well. June 18, 200915 yr comment_287087 I have personally straightend heads by the method you mentioned. It works. But, I still finished it up with a skim cut to smooth it up when I was done. Beware! If you choose to just surface it till flat, make sure you surface both sides! The top is just as important, as the cam towers must bolt down to a flat surface to allow the cam to turn freely.Phred Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32239-warped-head-choices/#findComment-287087 Share on other sites

June 18, 200915 yr comment_287109 .012 is not alot, I think .011 is the threshold. I would just try to use the one you have as long as u can. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32239-warped-head-choices/#findComment-287109 Share on other sites
June 18, 200915 yr Author comment_287126 Its 35 a side for the the shave, i was told that they have to shave it after a bake anyways so i figure shavin both sides would be fine. Now this leads me to compression. Will this significately change my compression to the point i need a thicker head gasket?
