June 19, 200915 yr comment_287214 Replaced w/?? (rubber/poly)? If w/poly then the whine was likely always there but the rubber insulated you from the noise. June 19, 200915 yr comment_287246 Same thing happened to me... I just got use to it. the poly tightens things up nicely. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32261-diff-whine-since/#findComment-287246 Share on other sites
June 19, 200915 yr comment_287248 Hey Scott (or anyone else), With the poly, is this really loud and annoying, a real nuisance? I'm on the verge of doing the same replacement. I wonder if it would be possible to "trim" down the top and bottom of the polys enough to still be able to insert the factory "stopper" on the top side next to the body and get the benefit of the poly and eliminate some of the whine? Just a thought.Bryan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32261-diff-whine-since/#findComment-287248 Share on other sites
June 19, 200915 yr comment_287263 I just did mine a month ago and YES, it's much louder and rather annoying. I'm not sure adding the serrated washer will do the trick. The NVH will transfer through the poly and into the sleeve where it has a direct path to the body. I think it will be an all or nothing choice. My driveline vibration did go away when I switched from worn out OEM to new poly, so in my case, I am happy with the improvement. Someday though, I might go back to OEM.
