WTB: 240z or 280z for a beater car....detailed info inside!!!

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking around for a 240z or 280z in decent condition to use as a beater car for school and while I'm working on my Z32 swap. Apparently my price range is somewhere between $1500 and $2500, so.... that means $2500 :classic:. I've been looking DESPERATELY trying to find one IN Texas that suits my needs and isn't just a heap of junk.

The main reason why I need a second car is to give myself a piece of mind that my current Z32 wont be broken into up here at school. Recently, the Campus Police posted fliers and sent out mass emails warning students of a huge uprising of on-campus vehicle burglary. Last year my car was broken into at this exact same time and I still haven't gotten it all back together. I REALLY don't want to go through that again, that's why I transferred schools to a nicer one, but apparently that didn't help too much.

I just need a Zcar, that runs reliably, and falls within my price range to keep up here during the school year. Once I get back for summer though, I'm sure it'll make a drastic change and become a Beauty!.. LOL, then I'll have to go out and find another beater. :stupid: But you get my point.

Any info to where I can find a well-kept, decent-looking 240 or 280z for about $2500 will be greatly appreciated! :classic:

BTW: I'm being VERY leniant when I say well-kept and decent-looking, it should just run fine and be easy on the eyes!

Thanks for the help!

LOL, thanks for the input.

I've seen many a nice Z car go for about that same price and still be in decent shape. I dont really mind if it isn't in GREAT shape, but just as long as I'm not driving around in something that's going to fall apart if I look at it funny. :D

I have one lined up to go look at sometime soon.. white 240z with a rebuilt engine and no a/c or carpet... $2000 :classic:

The extra $500 would be enough to fix the carpet, and I'm sure I can scrounge up some bucks to find a replacement A/C. So hopefully I've made a good find.

But, you all know how things usually go, and it may fall through and be something that I just really don't want! That's why I'd still love to get any leads that any of you may have!

Keep me informed!! Thanks again!

Hmm, plans are definately NOT common. My 300 is going under a HUGE change and I'm pretty much pioneering the work. A buddy and I are going to be having some fun this Christmas! :classic:

I would post pics, but I'm trying to keep it pretty hush-hush in the Z community so I don't get flamed by all of the Twinturbo.net members! :D

If you want me to keep you posted, just email me and I'll make sure to let you know when things get underway!

All of that work over Christmas is really going to require that I have a second car! I'm going to be running all over the place having stuff fabricated and picking up parts. And since the work I have planned is pretty rare, who knows how long my 300 will be out of commission!!! :stupid:

I've GOTTA find a second car! Help me out with those Datsun 240 and 280Z's!!!

I have 1 75' 280 z, blue with blk int. Fuel injected model. It has ac in the car but needs to be charged. I bought this car off of ebay and I got it not running. It now runs but it needs the brakes bled. I had to drop the gas tank, clean and service, new fuel filter and new distb, and wires. The cars comes with new dash cap ( full ) new center console and many extra parts includ. a rebuilt fresh off of another Z rack and pinion . It needs paint, two new rocker panels, door seals and end links for the sway bar ( front ). The interior was ripped out recently by me. I have two sets of seats one set decent, one set trashed but good frames. It needs carpet and arm rests. The doors have speakers mounted in them so if you don't want them you will have to replace the panels.

I am asking $1400. I believe with just under 500 the car would be in daily driver shape again. That was my original intent, but I found a 240z in great shap with very cosmetic rust for CHEAP! so I am making it my daily and resto project. You can contact me by Cell# 214-587-7619 or email me.
