OK, so here's another question about my header install. On the original manifold there was a heat collector that funnled hot air to the air cleaner via a flexible hose. I'm going to keep the original air cleaner assembly, but the header does not have the mounts for that heat collector. So do I need that collector anymore, and, wasn't that heat used for the choke system somehow?...anyway you've given me lot's of help with the smog devices, now I can use a little more help. Thanks

Mike, the warm air thing was only supposed to be used in lower temps, below 50, IIRC. The purpose was to prevent carbs from icing up, I believe. The early 240Zs did not even have that. So in Redding, even in Winter I suspect you can safely ignore it.

If you really want to implement this, in a junkyard I recently saw a nice way of adding this. Basically you cut down a length of pipe roughly the same dimensions as the flexible tubing you'll be using to connect it to the air cleaner, and cut two slots in the base of the pipe on th eopposite sides, and then thread a stainless hose clamp though it and fasten it to the header tube. I've hacked together a crude illustration of this of this idea in mspaint below. Sorry Photochop is on my other machine.

Thanks Arne and Adam, I'm going to go ahead and leave that off the engine since it's not necessary. Have either one of you heard of anyone running ducting from the air cleaner to the front of the car for cooler, cleaner air intake?...If so let me know. Also, Arne, can I go ahead and just plug the connections on the back of the air cleaner that formerly had the valve cover breather and smog pump lines going to them? What should I plug them with, rubber stoppers or something like that?

Plug the one from the smog pump. I've heard that a rubber tip for a crutch fits nicely. The breather still needs to be vented in some manner, and leaving it plumbed to the air box prevents oily smells under the hood and inside the car.
