Carl Beck Posted July 18, 2009 Share #15 Posted July 18, 2009 John must've had a mechanical problem or something, retired on lap 6. With that said, still a great job, gotta be there at the end! "Being There In The End" - - isn't that one of the hallmarks of the DATSUN's ? Check out race coverage here. You can see Greg's door flopping open in the video! Thanks for Posting that link Mark - great race to watch. Greg ran away from the field right at the start - and John Brakke broke his car trying to maintain a pace faster than that old Z could run...:stupid: OK - so the 240-Z's reliability is a major point in its overall excellence ! Nonetheless great racing was had by all. I was also glad to see the Group 3 FB race. Mark Jaremko finished second. He was running D Sports Racing... I've known Mark since he was about 10 years old. Bought my first Z from his Father Paul Jaremko in Spokane. FWIW, Carl B.

A friendly fyi, your link doesn't go directly to the EP race, for the others it's race #4. Ironically, I met the driver of the #47 roadster (the "smoker") this past weekend, he was instructing at our club's Sat drivers school. I hadn't planned on attending the runoffs but some of my fellow drivers had talked about going as spectators. Nothing concrete, but there's a chance I'll be there."Being There In The End" - - isn't that one of the hallmarks of the DATSUN's ?Tell that to the 5 of 7 Z drivers who DNS'd, DNF'd, or had limped through the race with problems at our Council race @ Blackhawk this past Sunday. We had no less than 6 Z's (including myself) in Vintage - possibly a record. Bill Oakes and I were the only 2 who escaped the "bad karma". A good weekend for me, won the race with a 19 second lead over 2nd place.
coop Posted July 31, 2009 Share #17 Posted July 31, 2009 Hey Carl. A good friend used to race his Z against Jaremko's Z in Conference back around 1980 or so. My friend pointed out to Jaremko that running electric fans in the ducting to the rear brakes was perhaps a stretch of the rules term "ducting." Jaremko had to remove the blower fans. Nice try eh!Coop
Carl Beck Posted July 31, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 31, 2009 Hi Coop: Yea...Stretching the "Rules" always adds more interest and fun to the competition. Racing is as much a mental challenge as much as it is a physical one - right? I enjoyed greatly knowing the entire Jaremko family and I've always been proud to call Paul my friend. We had a lot of great times together.. FWIW, Carl B.
