Skip,

If you go to www.zspecialties.com bottom right click on the altenator and all the info is there.

It was simple ,unplug voltage regulator tape off conection. I had to add a little wire to let it reach one of the connections. Remove alternator, replace with new alternator from ZSpeciaties and new belt, connect wires adjust belt done..

30 minutes top

Skip with my research I found this to be the best rout for me to go, at idle mine puts out 50+ amps.

Give these guys a call 800-518-5480

I will say its a little pricie at 229.95 but it does work.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Hello folks:

I am watching this thread with interest as I too am planning a swap for my 1/74 260 2+2. I am thinking at this point that I can do it cheaper than the zspecialities (especially when you figure in exchange, shipping, and broker fees). It would nice to confirm that the existing instructions for 240's work for our 260's, or whether some changes are needed. Looking forward to a write up: if not done by someone else I will do one for mine, except I won't be getting to that part for a month or so.

BTW, actually drove my 260 for the first time on tuseday: :D it hasn't run for 8 or 10 years: the PO (a mechanic) and I got it running and I drove it the 2 blocks to my place (no windows, interior or quarter panels, lucky i live in the country) Felt great to actually drive it!

Thanks, this forum is very helpful.

Chuck,

I am either going Maxima or chevy alternator. Below are two links that will get you started on your way. I have not found a write up on how to do the 260Z. Since mine does not have an electric fuel pump it should not be hard to switch. Well thats my thoughts and I am sticking to it.
