Hello, Does anyone know of a shop in California or anywhere for that matter,

who can repoduce a rim for me.

I'm trying to get my Peformance Specialteis rims remade in a 15x7 front and

16x7.5 in the rear to fit a Big brake conversion kit.

These are mine now, in 14 inch size.

And these are a supossed American Racing version.

Just trying to find a shop so I can get the vintage look with newer brakes.

I live 45 miles North of Sacramento and been told of shops in Roseville, CA but

haven't been able to find anyone who can do it after calling around and stuff.

The rims are Aluminum but any kind of billet / CNC machine type will do.

Hopefully with a reasonable price.

Please help of recommend a shop if you can.

My number is 530-301-1562 if you like to call,

Thyanx in ADVAN ~Z~

I have tried several times to find a supplier for just parts to machine my own wheels(I have a CNC Mill, Drill, Lathe. No one I have found will sell the blanks for a two or three piece rim in less than 25 sets(that is 100 pieces of each piece). I have found a single supplier to buy material from, but it is seriously expensive to buy 17"x17"x 10" billet pieces to machine a wheel from-as bad as I want to make my own wheels, I like to eat, feed my family, and occasionally put gas in a car...

This is before I find out how many tools I will have to buy, resharpen, and/or replace in the Machining process.

Getting the pieces for a two or three piece wheels cuts down the machining dramatically, and allows most of the machining to be done on one part per wheel. If you look at the back of most 280ZX wheels, they are two piece designs that are welded together.

If you can find a supplier for the parts, and get both of us a set with one of your wheels, I'll make the drawing, machine them forand send back your set and the sample wheel -but I will not under any circumstance accept any liability on anything but the cosmetic appearance. For clarity, you send me a sample wheel and enough material to make two sets of wheels, and I will make your set in exchange for the materials to make my own set.

My lathe will machine up to a 17" swing.

Sounds very expensive. What are you planning on spending on a project like this?

I was talking to Randy at Les Schwab here in Racerville and he faxed off

pics of my wheels to American and Boyd Coddington and wating to

hear back from them.

He said about $400 to $500 which is about the price for a new set of Watanabes if they can do it, so compared to that I gusee it's

resonable :ermm:

Thyanx But... I like these too much LOL:cool:

If you come across some new AR Vectors though....

Yeah... that'll happen.
they probably charge you 200-500 just to do the cad drawing for the cnc machine.
I would honestly find yourself some other wheels. Cheap isn't going to be an option

I found this one shop in SoCal called Evod Industriess and they

qouted me roughly 5,000 to 7,000 US for the sizes fore mentioned.

Larry who I spke with said they do alot of Riddler cars and such and that

they did one set of wheels where it started off as a 800lb block of

billet and they widdled it down to 41lbs, it was a 24x12 inch wheel!

Yeah, cheap aint the word no doubt.
