Hi there,

Just bought a 73 240Z today and i've been driving it all evening.

Funny story: Wife wanted to go for a walk after dinner and I did not want to go in the least. After bugging me and making me feel guilty for not ever wanting to go i gave in.

We decide to walk up 2 blocks and head left at the intersection and there it was about 7 houses in, a black, beautiful 240z for sale. I'll post up some pics tomorrow after i wash it.

Great find.........get some pictures up and let's see what you have. It's amazing what is in each of our neighborhoods that we don't know about.

Congratulations ! Do you think your Wife knew it was there and for sale all along, and this is why she was so insistent on taking a walk? I hope so. Do post some pictures, and continue to enjoy the ride. You must be infected with the Z Virus by now, and be aware there is no cure. Good to have you among us and one day maybe we will meet at a show or something in Washington, or even here in Oregon at Canby or something.

looks nice but now she wont start!

its been running yesterday and today until now. I figured i flooded it so i waited 1/2 hour and it started!! i pull it outside of work and there is some guy doing some dumpster diving so i turned it off, went into to work to set alarm and lock doors. And now whe wont start again....AHHH

oH and i've noticed the cab REEKS of gas after driving for about 5 minutes. i've got some research to do

That car looks great in the pictures! It must have been fun making that discovery. Interesting how it looks like your wife helped you in finding the car. My old 240 reeked of gas until I replaced the hoses behind the gas filler (and tank hoses too? its been so long).

well i just took the battery out of our forklift and put it in the Z. HURRAY all i need is a new battery!!

I know! I have the same problem after an extended drive.

I really don't think its a '73 thing, I think our carburetors might need some adjusting. Actually, my carbs are the belltops from an earlier '70-'72 Z, so definitely has nothing to do with being a '73.

Sounds like you may have some crud in the fuel filter, or at the pickup in the tank. The car will start/run because the crud falls back to the bottom of the tank/or filter. Then the crud gets picked up - plugs the filter/or the pick in the tank and the car stops. Let it sit until the crud floats to the bottom again - and it will start...

First thing I'd try is changing the fuel filter... With cars that have been sitting for prolonged periods, or cars that get a tank of bad gas.. it is easy to go though a couple filters in a hurry..
