ID These Wheels Anyone?

Arne has made a real science out of what is or what is not a real Appliance wheel... We should accept no substitute... Kind of like what is or is not a real "Libra" by American Racing...

Glad I said "are commonly called".... rather than "those are".

Nonetheless that is a great site for wheel references pictures ZWOLF...

Well, having a set of Appliances today tends to sharpen my memory. But after selling custom wheels here in Oregon for over 20 years (from the late '70s through 1998), I'm very familiar with the details of many of the old vintage wheels. Appliances just happen to be easier to identify than most.
The wheels in this photo are a similar basket weave style. I believe they were dealer installed in '74 when the car was purchased by the previous owner. The wheels were lost when the car was stolen in 1982.
Hard to be certain for that picture, but if I had to guess I'd say those were Keystones.

I'll bet that the Previous Owner really appreciates your publishing that picture of himLOL

Here is a picture of my 72 when we ran {AIR} 14x7 Appliance Wire Mesh wheels on the front and 13x8's on the rear with Goodyear Bluestreaks for auto-cross duty. The 13's on the rear were short enough to clear the lower spring perch on the stock strut... and they lowered the overall gearing... It was really fun waxing the 911's and Corvettes on the weekend...

I don't have any pictures of my hair style from that period:finger:

FWIW,

Carl B.

Definitely Appliances, Carl. LOL But...

...Appliance didn't make 13x8 in any style back then. Again, it's impossible to say for certain from the picture, but the only 4 lug Wire Mag sizes were 13x5.5, 13x7 (rare), 14x6 and 14x7.

Judging from the depth of the lips, I would have guessed that set as 14x6 front, and probably 14x7 back. (Wheel diameter looks the same on both ends.) Could be 13x7 on the rear too.
