July 14, 200915 yr comment_289520 Bruce - speaking of early air cleaner boxes, any chance you could poke Steve to send me the rubber seals for one that we talked about in June 08? If one has the attaching hardware then not so much.Doug, consider Steve poked!! July 14, 200915 yr Author comment_289539 Steve says the ever-illusive air cleaner seals still are. He has come up with none since you and he talked. Sounds like it's time to make something work. July 15, 200915 yr comment_289604 There were two - one with Carb's that sold for $125.00 mol..and a second air cleaner box only that has a Buy-it-now of $100.00What is your customer expecting to pay for the air cleaner box? A complete set of used SU's is worth more than $125.00 aren't they? In which case the air cleaner box that was with that set was free (Yes/No?)Just curious...Carl B. July 15, 200915 yr comment_289606 Bruce,I thought Ztherapy sold restored air cleaners? Is this guy just looking for one to use as a core for one of yours? Also, you said "early" but the ebay ads were for the later style (1971-72) with the summer/winter flap and pre-heater hose. Is he looking for one of those, or the 1970 style without that? I have a couple of the 1971-72 versions if that is what you are looking for.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32519-early-stock-air-cleaner-housing/#findComment-289606 Share on other sites

The cost of getting one straightened, cleaned of oil so the BC/CC will stick, try and find gaskets etc. just makes building carbs a lot more attractive. The customer in question is doing a flat top conversion and I suggested he go for an earlier round mouth aircleaner to match up to his soon to be round mouth carbs. The flat top aircleaner is just about as attractive as everything else flat top, plus has the square mouth to the carb. July 15, 200915 yr comment_289623 But we still don't know—does he care if the airbox has the summer/winter flapper? If not, there are lots around. As noted above, Mike B said he may have a couple of 'em.
