Posted July 16, 200915 yr comment_289743 I put a new header on, then went to start the car and it wants to crank but won't. I disconnected the EGR. All the injectors are working. I spray starting fluid in and it's starts and dies. I pulled the plugs and it seems like it's getting too much gas, but then again if it was getting enough I'd image that it would run. Any suggestions? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32549-car-wont-start/ Share on other sites

July 17, 200915 yr comment_289810 Did it run before the header? Won't crank, but it will run w/starter fluid? You're not getting any responses because you didn't provide any info. The guys on this board aren't going to drag it all out of you. August 5, 200915 yr Author comment_291193 1977 280z, yes fuel injection. I have replace the fuel pump, relay, and pressure regulator. I got it to start yesterday, but it won't stay running. I pull the fuel filter off and ran it directly into the engine. Gas coming out of the line is clean. But the pressure isn't very strong, just seems to pour out not forceful at all. August 5, 200915 yr Author comment_291194 Yesterday I also ran air through the gas line, air pressure was fine coming out, so no clogs, also back through the tank from the gas line. This is driving me crazy. It just won't stay running unless I floor it. August 5, 200915 yr comment_291196 If you have to floor it to keep it running, it sounds like you're still not getting enough fuel. You said its a new fuel pump, but it wouldn't be the first time a new part didn't work right. Maybe you should get an in-line fuel pressure gauge and see what pressure you're getting at idle.Of course, my car has SU's, so I'm probably not the best guy to be answering EFI questions. Good luck. August 5, 200915 yr Author comment_291199 I'm sure the pressure isn't right in just comes out like when you turn a faucet on low, pours out, instead of streaming out.
