A truly heart wrenching story! Rest in peace brother!

My 52 year old brother passed away yesterday from cancer. When he was diagnosed, he went out and bought his dream motorcycle and rode it up until 5 days ago. We had all got together to go to a concert about 100 miles away and he was insistent on riding his bike there with his best friend.

Coming back from the show the next day, he (being medicated) nodded off at 65 mph into a tree filled ravine and walked away from it with a small cut on his head and ear, simply amazing. The bike did not fare as well.

My mother called me and told me that the ins. company was going to total the bike. She told me my brother was planning on leaving me his motorcycle and she wanted to know what I wanted to do, take the bike back and fix it or take a check.

Then she told me that he knew I would never be able to ride it or love it the way he did and he wanted me to ride it as long as I wanted. Then he wanted me to sell it and use the money from his dream to fund my dream and to finish my Z.

Needless to say, I cried my eyes out and was very touched and humbled by his thoughts. I have the headlight from his bike and somehow will include that into my car along with a vanity plate I am yet to think up, maybe SZ12956 his initals and d.o.b.

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I am sure you are going through a rough time right now. That is a very touching story and it would sure be a tribute to him to have the headlight be a part of the car. He will always be a part of your life and my prayers go out to you. Let us know how things go.

Carl,

thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Honestly, I feel more relief now than anything that he is no longer suffering. Its hard to get excited now about my car to be sure.

Soon enough though, after the greiving process, its time to turn a negative into a positive. Tell myself that life is too short and live well while we are here. Hug my wife and kids and then get online and start buying all the parts Ive been looking at getting for my car since I bought it. Now that I have the money to finish her I will only lack the time and expertise :) With help from all the great users on here, I am confident that I will have a fitting tribute when its finished.

Thanks again

Sorry to hear about your brother! Celebrate his life and dive in to the car. You now know this is what he wanted and though bittersweet as it is, make that car the way you want and drive the s*** out of it, for him

As a motorcycle rider, that sounds like one hell of a crash to walk away from!! Further proof, when it isn't your time, it just isn't your time.

Thanks guys for the comments. I am sure that soon enough I will start the process. I did get my car back on the road about 5 weeks ago. I bought it almost 2 years ago so it was nice. My brother stopped by not too long after I got temp tags and I told hime I finally had it on the road. I asked him to drive it (which he did), I sat on a pillow next to him as the interior was pretty much gutted. That was a good memory. When we returned, he asked if I wanted to ride his bike. It was a 1600 cc Suzuki and damn did it move. I started to get bit by the bike big after that ride. :)

Anyway, I have had a parts wish list saved for a long time, Tokico shocks, Eibach springs, Konig Rewinds, brake upgrade. I already have everything to finish the interior, just finished with the motor, so after suspension, paint and body and a few other bits to go. Thanks again!
