July 27, 200915 yr Author comment_290491 Tom Barber disagrees completely...with Mr. Bruce Augenstein. I watched the debate via 40 or so e-mails between the two... it got nasty to say the least.Nonetheless in the interests of hearing both sides:See: http://wotid.com/dyno/content/view/18/37/FWIW,Carl B. July 27, 200915 yr comment_290511 You can't argue with the math. If you don't turn the left side of the HP=torque*rpm equation into a value greater than zero you don't move. Period. A force (torque) alone does not do work, you need to actually move. Power, (force*distance)/time, tells you how fast your engine can do work. The more power you have the more work you can do in a given amount of time. So if you want to fast zero to 60 times you need power.Steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32638-have-you-been-watching-cheap-cars/?&page=2#findComment-290511 Share on other sites
July 27, 200915 yr comment_290537 I think it is pretty amazing how just in the last 10 years cars have stayed pretty much the same price or have gotten cheaper. I own a 1998 Nissan Maxima SE that my parents purchased brand new. I still have the window sticker and the MSRP for a 1998 Nissan Maxima SE was a tad over $30,000. You can get a really nice car today with a MSRP of $30K today compared to my car. July 28, 200915 yr comment_290616 I think that shows how the Z has strayed from being an everyman's sportscar. Obviously the 370z is a good deal for the money but they no longer have a car like the 240.I saw pricing of the 370 convertible starts at around 38k! That's luxury car territory.
