WTB skyline in the US

I know seriously. I know about the one here but I can't afford $50k. Maybe I should have mentioned that first :) I would be interested in looking at some cars that were in the $20k range. I asked here hoping that someone knew of a car for sale personally. Most US skylines advertised are pretty sketchy.

The black one in OH is the best example out of those IMO

Skylines are pretty hit and miss up here. They have typically been thrashed pretty well over in Japan before they make it here and then, unless you're the importer, they've been thrashed a second time...

If you can figure out the import into the US side (really not sure how that's done, but given their rarity, must not be easy), they are dead cheap up here (<$15k).

Above and beyond Terra, there are probably a few hundred importers up here (just Google JDM Canada, tons of them...). One of the best is Tyee in BC.

Hmm...cheap Skylines...free health care...global warming only works for us (driving a bunch of hopped up Skylines actually helps that)...as long as you yanks can deal with a slightly greater amount of socialism, we have plenty of land (just leave your guns at the border...).

'KPC10' and 'KPC110' were both 'short front' bodies, powered by the G18 four cylinder engine. Unusual choices.

'P' prefix denoted either the Prince-derived 'G18' SOHC four, or the Prince-derived 'S20' DOHC 24-valve six.

You probably mean 'KGC10' and 'KGC110' two door pillarless 'Hard Top' bodies with L20 sixes?

It is possible for an individual to import a non-US specification automobile without making it meet U.S. emissions, IF it is at least 21 years old, in its original configuration, with the original engine. (Good luck getting it smog certified with your local air pollution authority.)

The NHTSA's web site, in their FAQ section says:

"A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable FMVSS."

So I guess that if you want to import a Skyline on your own it has to be (currently) a 1984 model or earlier unless you intend to pay someone to bring it into compliance.

(And then, depending upon where you live you may still not be able to plate it because of the emissions situation.)

Yeah I have a guy on the 510 forum who knows a lot about this. Consensus is to either import a KGC10 or buy an already registered R32,33 or 34 and since they are a ton of money I will stick with looking for a 70-73. Which is my favorite anyway :)

I have a good friend in FL that is partering with another local who has been importing cars for years. He is getting the line on a few KGC10's and said with him I can expect to pay around $15k all in :) Hopefully one of these bad boys will be in my garage in the next 6-12 months :)

Will have to sell the 510 though :(

Here's one that a guy in the Seattle area had for sale a couple of years ago. Not sure if he ever sold it. http://www.classiczcars.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1645&cat=1. I'll be curious to see what quality of car you can get for $15K all in.
