WTB skyline in the US

Those are all clones in post 10, 12, and 13, and as such, they're all overpriced. But such is the nature of attempting to own one in the US. Remember the story here about the one with the altered vin tags? I'd steer clear of any of them. The clones are overpriced and not always labled as clones by the sellers (terms like "GTR style") and the real ones, if you can find them are prohibitively priced.

You can get a very quality car for $15k if you know the importer. And only if the importer isn't trying to rape you on markup. This guy isn't going to make any money. He is good friends with one of my best friends and wants the advertising.

He assured me he can get me a really nice car for around $15-20k after shipping cost. Another guy here in Richmond bought his KGC10 for $9k in Japan and paid around $3k for shipping.

I am not going to get too excited as you know how $hit always seems to happen.

I do like the Ken&Mary on eBay. Looks like a nice example. I would guess it will go for about $22k.

The eBay car is a clone as are the other two. Do you think a clone is worth 22k? Especially one that's so highly and personally modified?

I got a bunch of photos of that Ken & Mary. I can't believe that is the same car that was on eBay in pretty rough shape a year or two ago. He did a pretty good job. After seeing all the photos etc I would guess this car is worth more like $15k

I got a call from my guy in FL who says the importer has located a few KGC10's for me!!! :) So I am actually starting to get excited that I may actually get one :)

Whichever of these cars you decide on, please do a very careful check of the title and VIN. Check with the DMV in the state the car is registered to make sure the title is correct. There are a lot of bogus titled "skylines" here in the US (Maxima VINs tend to be used most often).

That car is sweet but......it tells yah something its not yet LEGAL!!! yet he has plates on it driving it around. I thought they had to be legal before they left the dock.

I know the first thing i would do before i even wasted money on the car is make it legal.

Here are two more recently imported skylines for sale in CA. One is a 1971 2000 GT-R clone http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170371655310&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT. The other is a 1974 2000 GT http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170371647392&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT.

There is also an article about a 1971 GT-R clone in the Oct 2009 issue of Grassroots Motorsports.
