I bought an old gtu car that raced in the late 70's. The car went from gtu to trans-am to gt-2. I'm going to restore the car as much as possible to when it raced as a gtu car. The car came withlog books and little other information. I crewed on the car when it raced in the northwest. The interior of the car, other than the tach, has not been alterred. Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry, I have a website dedicated to the IMSA GTU Zs that many have contributed to, including members here.

If you have any pics and/or history of the car I would love to include it on the site. Thanks, Steve

P.S. A friend just gave me what I believe is an original Datsun Comp race weight rear flare. That's a 12 inch Panasport with a 13 inch slick and still has room for more.

Thanks Steve for the information. I will try to get some pictures and what I know of the car's history. Are there any of the cars running, and if so where. Are the cars allowed to run on 16 inch wheels? I haven't found wide 15 inch tires to run on the wide rims. I would like to rae the car some next year if parts and time allow. I also have a 240 running in scca e-production that I have pictures of.

Montezuma, I pmed you. Terry, I am not familiar with vintage rules, I would think as in any racing, a rulebook with the group you wish to run with is the first thing to buy.

As for current competitors, I know Bob Sharp himself is about to campaign a car. I will have pics up this weekend in the Replica GTU section. SharpSite racing was running a few cars but had one up for sale. The Frisselle car ran Laguna recently. There is also one being rebuilt in the south that he thinks is one of the NTS Racing cars like Sam Posey ran.

And speaking of Bob Sharp....(not to take anyone away from this thread)...our Z club in CT had a gathering at Lime Rock with him this past weekend...it was outstanding.

In one of the galleries in the linked forum post, you'll see Bob showing a pic of his new GTU toy (=
