Vin fonts

Just got back from an evening with some Z's and was stuck in traffic. Going 5 mph on the beltway in my Z drives me batty.:stupid: Anyway pondered some questions about the stamping of the vins on the door jamb plates.

First how many fonts existed on the 240's?

Some of the numbers to me do not appear uniformed when placed on the plate spacing wise so is it machined on or hand stamped for the early 240's?

Lastly are the numbers black when stamped or just silver?
