My advise to you is to download a FSM and start working on the timing from the beginning, step by step.

Then check if you have fuel in your float bowls and if the fuel gets from the bowls to the nozzles, when it does, i'm sure you will get this thing to run.

I have been workin with the fsm, and the z therapy video. I believe the floats were too low and not letting gas in. I readjusted to 15mm. Still not turning over. I believe my crank should be turned back a notch or 2 on the chain. I am going to call a professional as this is over my head a little. No z professionals around my area for the z so i called a v8 guy who has some OHC experience to take a look at it. I am getting gas on top of the piston a little now but no POOLING.

Hi Frankie,

Just finished doing the timing chain, crank and cam, on my L26 and posted them on this thread with a number of pics.

Hopefully that helps a bit. The fact that you got a couple pops seems somewhat promising. I am wondering if your oil pump/distributor timing was 180 out. As the slotted tab is offset, at 11:25, the key needs to be more on the 7 to 8 o'clock side than the 2 to 3 o'clock side. I hope that makes sense.

see pic.

Be careful moving a couple links. If you are off, you can bend valves.

the distributor fits right on the shaft only one way, or 180. but it was at 1 on the distributor when i hooked it up to tang, and that was at 11:25

could it be the cam is off and the cyclinder isn't air tight when the spark is ignited

Possible. Did you check the pictures that I posted on cam and crank timing? Those are fairly clear. If you set the crank and cam that way, you should be fine for cam crank timing.

yeah i did, all of which i think i did, but to do over again i am going to have to remove the oil (to remove the pump) so i was tryin some other ideas

looks like its probably gonna be what i have to do

One step at a time, turn the crank to TDC, if the marks don't align turn it again until it does (this is a 4 stroke motor), when you have the marks aligned, piston at TDC, both valves closed at cyl 1 you'r there, you can pull the oil pump, the spill of oil is minimal, get a helper to look from above when you install, it makes things a lot easier.

This is not rocket science, just do one step at a time.

Timing..

Ignition.....

Fuel...........

The correct fireing order is: 1-5-3-6-2-4.

There is a saying to remember it: 15 too young, 36 too old, 24 just right. :)

Funny stuff Lonny and nice way to remember the order. Sadly, 24 is also too young for me at this point. LOL

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This mechanic came over and had it running in 20 minutes, I had the distributor 180, Sorry you were right Motorman :stupid::stupid:

I felt so dumb, he kind of looked at me like, "you called me over here for that?"

Now for tuning the carbs, she reved up real high when i got her running so im gonna resort to my z therapy video now for help.

Thanks everyone for you input
