Posted August 22, 200915 yr comment_292549 Does anyone have any pictures of an original OK inspection sticker for a 240Z? I found the original one from HLS30-00210 (an 11/69 production car) underneath the passenger side rear carpet (see first picture below). Banzai Motorworks and a seller on Ebay have reproductions, but they don't look the same. On my original, all of the text below the OK is aligned to the left, but on the reproductions, the words "Yokohama" and "Japan" don't align all the way to the left. I'm not sure if this was a change made somewhere along the way, or if the repros are just not accurate. Here is a link to the repro on ebay ad http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-510-OK-Decal_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem5882cb7756QQitemZ380151494486QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories and a picture of the Banzai repro is shown below. -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32921-ok-inspection-decals/ Share on other sites
August 23, 200915 yr comment_292569 Ahh, you noticed. I don't know where the repro came from. Perhaps the later 'OK' stickers were made that way. Congrats on actually owning an original, though. That's cool. A couple of years ago, at a national convention in Dallas, Masataka Usami gave these out as gifts. September 12, 200915 yr comment_294462 Mike,I was out at the shop today and remembered this thread so I pulled out the envelope with my decal collection and guess what? I have an inspection sticker like your original. I'll be damned if I can get a scan of it because of the facing paper, but if you hold it up to the light you can see the alignment like you noticed.I also have another decal about the same size as the Ok decal but blue / white lettering and all in Japanese. Is that a reproduction or an original? I wonder what the blue/white sticker is for? A couple of years ago, at a national convention in Dallas, Masataka Usami gave these out as gifts. I noticed that my HLS30-00210 has what looks to be the remnants of the P-2 decal on the front of the valve cover. -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32921-ok-inspection-decals/#findComment-294473 Share on other sites
September 12, 200915 yr comment_294483 Here's an "OK" sticker that's on one of my NOS cam covers. Unfortunately I cannot recall the year of manufacture. Can anyone tell by the design of this sticker what an approximate year would be? September 12, 200915 yr comment_294522 I needed a light table to photograph these. I got the OK sticker years and years ago. It is new. But it is half the length of yours, Mike!?!!? Square in shape and not rectangular. The other sticker was given to me and I'm really not sure what it signifies. It is medium blue with reverse backing for application on glass apparently. September 12, 200915 yr comment_294531 Well that was one hell of a piece of quick investigation! Unleaded fuel only, huh? Notice the "Datsun Genuine Parts" backdrop? Send that to Alan! That ought to grab his craw! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32921-ok-inspection-decals/#findComment-294531 Share on other sites
September 12, 200915 yr comment_294561 Esprist has some of those blue/red/white circle decals. Perhaps send him a PM. He told me once where he got them in Japan and knew what they were for, but I forgot what he said. September 15, 200915 yr comment_294789 It looks like an eBay seller in Japan is selling the blue and white decal you have. The seller calls it a "JDM Fuel Caution" decal.Mike / Chris,My maroon ZG has one of the original 'Muen' stickers on its rear window, but it is the red & white version rather than the blue & white. I've never seen an original blue & white one on a Z in Japan, and there's also more than one version of the red & white one. I'll have to try and take a photo of the original, and I note that it is a lot darker red than most of the repros seem to be.....I've got a few repros, but I bought them originally from Auto Garage Watanabe in downtown Tokyo ( thinks: that must be at least 15 years ago now...... ). I should think Usami san and Esprist buy them from Nishi san at 'Revive Jalopy', like nearly everybody else in Japan does nowadays. He has many of the Japanese market version stickers. I got Matsuo san to sign as 'Inspector' on one of my Revive Jalopy repro 'OK' stickers, just for fun. Has anybody ever collected any original 'Inspector' names from original 'OK' stickers? Most of the ones I've seen are usually faded / rubbed to illegibility, but I notice 'Romaji' signatures rather than Kanji.Alan T. September 15, 200915 yr Author comment_294815 I'll have to try and take a photo of the original, and I note that it is a lot darker red than most of the repros seem to be..... Alan, that seems to be the case with the reproduction OK stickers as well. My original looks much darker than both the one sold by Banzai Motorsports and the seller on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-510-OK-Decal_W0QQitemZ380158788519QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item58833ac3a7&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245. Funny that the ebay seller says "Unlike the ones sold in U.S., this one has bright red as original one". See comparision pics below. My original is first, second is the DE-09 from Banzai and third is the one for sale on ebay. Has anybody ever collected any original 'Inspector' names from original 'OK' stickers? Most of the ones I've seen are usually faded / rubbed to illegibility, but I notice 'Romaji' signatures rather than Kanji. I attached a picture of mine below. As you can see, it is in Romaji. -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/32921-ok-inspection-decals/#findComment-294815 Share on other sites
