No Fuel, Fuel pump is working

Hey Guys

Just as the title says, i am not getting any fuel. I had my engine off for a while and I just put it in this weekend after a rebuild. No fuel is pumping out of the fuel pump. I separated the filter off the gas hose and the pump is creating a suction when pump it. So where do i go next??

PS if i blow down the hose side going to the tank, I can hear bubbles

Did you check for a clog somewhere in hoses and fuel sails? A pinched hope?

Since I can blow bubbles into the fuel tank, i assumed no clogs? Im not sure of a good way to check besides a visual view of the outside of the lines.

I am assuming you're talking about the mechanical pump. When I was testing my fuel system, I took the flex hose from the hard line to the filter and submerged the end in a container of gas. The engine started and had fuel pressure within book specs but that was not the case when it was connected to the main feed line. The gas drained fairly quickly because I didn't re-route the return to my container... just something to remember. I had to blow out both hard lines.

A totally dry fuel line from the tank takes a good amount of cranking to prime but mine did when the lines were cleared.

You are certain the timing and/or points/ignition are good? hope this helps

Yep the mechanical fuel pump. Ill trying just putting my air compressor on one end and blowing to the back.

Im not sure why I would need to be correct on the timing, points and ignition. Is it related. I figured as long as the cam shaft was spinning it would be pumping.

I was going to work with the timing once I got gas to the engine so i could have it running.

fuel filter was clogged, ugh, aint it always somethin simple

I always have to remind myself these distributors only go in 2 ways and have the little scale on the mounting plate. If the timing is too far off, it can cause hard starting or no start.

I must have missed the part where you said nothing was coming out and thought you were trying to diagnose a crank-no start. Just a simple misunderstanding
