Complete Restoration

Ok, so in order for this Z to be mine, I have to completely restore it. It was taken apart 15 years ago and he doesn't remember much about it. I do have a book for it but it's not very informative where I need it to be so I'll be asking a good deal of questions.

Question #1: Does the '75 280Z need transmission mounts? I found brackets and I want to make sure that is what they are before I go trying to hunt down tranny mounts for a Z.

Question #2: All the bolts were lost, are these cars metric or standard?

The cars are all metric, with exception of the seat belt bolts.

There is a rear transmission mount on a bolt-in crossmember at the rear of the transmission.

You should be able to download a complete factory service manual over at www.xenons30.com. This should provide you with some helpful diagrams. There is also the Zcar microfiche CD available for purchase here to assist with part numbers and diagrams.

Question #3: Anyone know how many bolts the tranny needs to be bolted in and what size?

Question #4: Anyone know how many bolts the engine needs and what size?

The engine mounts are already in place so I've got that covered. Thank you all for your help!

Contact Eiji at Datsunspirit.com (see below). He will set you up with the engine bolts, nicely zinc plated and labeled. $135 plus shipping. Not sure about the tranny bolts.

It might be a good idea to start trolling around the local yards to get any nuts and boltas or at least one each for the size.

Eiji has the best engine bolts kits you can buy.....He also packages and labels all the bolts. I just saw him Sunday and ordered another set for my "in transit" 73. My fourth set from Datsun Spirit. Guy

Oh...by the way. Eiji's kit includes fuel pump studs and nuts and washers,valve cover bolts,inspection cover bolts,water inlet bolts and washers,water pump bolts,fan nuts and washers,all front cover bolts and washers,oil pump bolts and washers and flat washers,oil pan bolts,distributor bolts,thermostat housing bolts and washers,thermostat cover bolts,intake and exhaust studs, washers and nuts and thick washers,timing marker and nut, all cad plated and packaged individually!

Wow, that sure is a lot of bolts....might have to do that.

Question #4: Will a tansmission mount crossmember pulled from an 81Z work on a 75Z? Or where can I buy one?
