Posted September 5, 200915 yr comment_293826 I have no connection to the seller. Here is the link to the ad http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130329022162&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#v4-38. It is a 11/69 production car. Unfortunately, it sounds like the original engine has been replaced. Seats, door panels and radio are not original. Looks like it was originally 903 blue -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33073-hls30-00491-for-sale-on-ebay/ Share on other sites
September 5, 200915 yr comment_293836 The passenger door panel does not look quite right for a 240, missing the chrome strip, vertical stripes in the vinyl.Could this have been a blue/blue car? There are only 4 known blue/blue cars in the first 4000 VIN's. September 7, 200915 yr Author comment_294043 In this pic you can see where it appears that black dye has been worn away to reveal a blue interior?Good eye Ron. I was wondering what Bonzi saw that identified it as originally having a blue interior. No bids on it yet. If the original engine has been replaced it will take a big hit to its value. It would be nice to see more pictures including the engine bay and common rust areas too.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33073-hls30-00491-for-sale-on-ebay/#findComment-294043 Share on other sites
September 8, 200915 yr comment_294089 I'm sorry but I don't see anything that leads to a blue interior, unless it is by the gas pedal, that appears to be body paint. The passenger door panel has vertical lines in the vinyl, both my 240's do not have the lines. A look behind/between the headliner and upper vinyl would be the only way to see if it really was a blue interior. September 8, 200915 yr comment_294092 I sent the guy an email. He stated that the origional color of the car was blue and was painted in 1982 to the white you see now. I agree with Ron, that the tunnel vinyl looks like it was painted black and the black paint has worn away next to the gas pedal. I don't think that is body paint.A look behind/between the headliner and upper vinyl would be the only way to see if it really was a blue interior. That would be one place to check. If the tunnel vinyl was painted, the remaining vinyl, headliner, and plastic interior panels may have been painted black as well. The passenger door panel has vertical lines in the vinyl, both my 240's do not have the lines. Yes, I noted in my first post that the door panels are not correct for a 240Z.Seats, door panels and radio are not original.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33073-hls30-00491-for-sale-on-ebay/#findComment-294103 Share on other sites
September 8, 200915 yr comment_294125 I asked the seller about the interior color. Not quite the conclusive answer I was hoping for but his response leans me in the direction of this car originally having a blue interior.Question: Looking at the pictures it looks like the tunnel vinyl has been dyed black at some point in the past and is worn off by the gas pedal. Did this car originally have a blue interior?Answer: The car was factory blue, it was painted white in 1982. Tunnel vinyl may have been dyed black by my brother before I got it in 1976Just curious Bonzi Lon; what was it that made you ask, "Could this have been a blue/blue car?"I didn't ask for more pictures, but would recommend getting a much better look if anyone is interested. It just kind of spooks me when I get a vague response from a seller. September 9, 200915 yr comment_294164 It's definitely a blue on blue car, too bad the original engine is gone. Rear bumper is off of a '73 -a sign that the car could have had rear end damage at one time. Still, if this car is one of a few remaining '69 production Zs that are blue on blue, that is something special. September 9, 200915 yr comment_294187 Upon further review...that patch is indictive of wear if painted, would really like to see under the headliner, darn OCD.geezer: The blue/blue combo was the least manufactured color of the 240Z, then came the blue/white combo, then blue/black, IIRC. Conformation or correction requested. You might say I have a thing for blue Z's, my 73 is blue/white and HLS30-00110 was purchased as blue/black only to discover later it is blue/blue.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33073-hls30-00491-for-sale-on-ebay/#findComment-294187 Share on other sites
September 12, 200915 yr comment_294507 Shot in the dark but I just asked the seller if he still has the original block.
