running lean?

Pistons tops seem to be covered in a white ash....taking a q tip to them cleans them down to the factory color. I am running way to lean on the top end? triple webers just installed today. Fully rebuilt. Car pulls and runs like no tomorrow it may be if i burn a piston LOL.

200 air

140 main

33 choke

4.5 venturi.

If you have a week or 2 it's worth reading the Weber thread on HybridZ. I read the entire thing at lunch time over the course of a week at work. I just checked, it looks like you're posting there too (I would too)

My gut tells me your air correctors are too big for your mains. Do you already have the 175 airs? It's probably worth it to see if changing them makes a difference.

The Haynes Weber book I have recommends 130 mains and 175 airs with the 40 DCOE, likely for a stock L24. Maybe the 180-185 is closer to what you need with the 140 main

How do your plugs look when you pull them? An Air/Fuel gauge would tell the whole story here.

As a note to the hybridZ thread, I have seen pistons come out of Toys/Honda 4 cylinders looking black, but not loaded up with carbon. ...Or they have holes in the pistons :eek:

I am rethinking this a little i think i might be to rich on the top end as after the last pull i can removed said deposits down to factory color/material. They look kinda wet when i remove them as well. The car runs like a farking top.

Prior to this i was running Su's with sm needles so those might have been what was running rich.

Plugs looks okay nice and tan.

I have read the SM needles run on the rich side if you don't have a good sized cam but there's debate about that (like anything on the net). If the plugs read good, I'd run with that for now. Your coolant temps are good, run it for a bit and see how things look in a couple weeks.

If you can get your hands on a wideband or a simple A/F gauge, that will be the biggest help
