Posted September 20, 200915 yr comment_295238 I just bought a 78 280zx 2+2 and the accelerator is sticking. I can be doing 20 or 50 mph and have to pull the pedal back to slow down. It doesn't appear to the gas pedal that's sticking. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. December 5, 200915 yr comment_302287 The TB could be sticking(clean it) or the accelerator cable (lube it) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33258-78-280zx-sticky-accelerator/#findComment-302287 Share on other sites
January 6, 201015 yr comment_305337 You need to clean the Throttle Linkage as well as the Throttle Body. You should also check the Return Spring on the TB is in good shape (It is the long straight on on the under side.) - There should be no rust. You can gently pry up the Throttle Linkage 'Ball and Sockets' to clean and lube. They pop back on.Finally, you should check the Throttle Pedal and the bushings under the dash!Do you have a Factory Service Manual??
