October 21, 200222 yr comment_17369 I would be very interested in a copy of that if you do not mind and there is no rush. I have a 72 240Z and am thinking of repainting it to the original color. Does the vin # of the car also let you know the original color? The sticker on the front of the engine is illegable ,so I am not sure the original color but I do believe it to be white. October 22, 200222 yr Author comment_17388 Hi John,Yes, the sticker on the body near the radiator does indeed list the colour as built. Sadly, as yours is un-readable, I am unsure myself of what advice I can offer. Tracking the colour code back by using the VIN may indeed be difficult at best. Maybe others here can be of more assistance. How many whites were there? Over to the experts, in this area. ............................... Also, as an after-thought, the paint chips here are of Australian manufacture and resultingly the paint code number should be the same for all export cars. What may differ though is name of the colour, so that it would be "more suitable?" for the target country. My cars' colour code is 918 which in the U.S. is "Orange" but here in Australia the same colour was marketed as "Kalahari Tan" (code 918).CheersDazza:beard: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3331-1972-colour-chips-imports/#findComment-17388 Share on other sites
October 22, 200222 yr comment_17390 Dazzayour a godsend. Have always wondered if my colour was original or not until I started spotting other like it around the traps. Cannot read colour stikcer either. would have been a good idea to use something other than a sticker!!Have some minor damage and thought that i might as well get a respray back to original. would love highresolution copy if you get the time to send it.Email address is www.biker@powerup.com.auThanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3331-1972-colour-chips-imports/#findComment-17390 Share on other sites
October 22, 200222 yr comment_17404 Dazza, my old mate, you're an angel in disguise. But only if you have the chips for the 1974 breed of Zed. By the way, as I intend to paint "Precious" in her original colour with just a little enhancement, I recently chased up colour codes. A talk with the boss at my local Nissan dealer came up trumps. All he required was the car's engine number and body number. He came back to me with the answer, Code 301 Brown Metalic. Bloke at the paint shop punched in the number and Lo and Behold, up popped the right colour and the correct colour blending necessary. As I keep saying, don't completely write off your local Nissan dealer. Your Zed. Rick. May 6, 200420 yr comment_79999 I'll take one too, please.Nathan@amoth.netAs for original color, try getting down near the pedals and looking at the color of the metal up under the dash. Most people won't paint that, that's how I found mine to be 918 orange.
