Has anyone seen a z car with a rear bumble bee stripe?

Not sure what you mean. I have seen yellow cars with the Rally stripes ala GM cars like the '70's Camaro and Chevelle. This looks good. I have also seen the ZAP model from '77.

I think I would have to photoshop that one to see how it would look way before I had the azz end of my car painted with them.........just IMO.

I agree, it looks good on the car in your link, but a z has that slope from the hatch that you would have to deal with, it would throw off the look of the stripes, in my opinion. Who knows, maybe it would look good. I do like those stripes, but I want to put two big fat stripes coming down the driver side of the car, front to back.

I don't know, it might look alright. Look at the link, then imagine it on Mitchell's car in his sig. It would have to be scaled down to size or smaller than the Mopar. Maybe one wide and two narrow stripes. The Mopar stripes are not vertical either, that going fast look.

Cheapest way to SEE what it could look like, go out and buy different widths of masking tape and tape up different combinations to see what YOU like.

I really don't think there is enough room on a Z car - the bumper - the side light - the distance from the rear glass to the edge of the hatch - now look at the link on the Dodge (I guess that is what that is) they are trying to fill in room, they have 3 feet they have to do something with because is a crappy design for the car - typical Dodge in my opinion.

Why ruin a perfect design (IMO)?

Bumble Bee stripe? I believe that the Mopar in the picture is a Super Bee. And it is hardly a crappy design. There are very few Z's if any, in perfect condition that approach the value of a Super Bee in perfect condition. They are simply very different cars with very different followings. I have five Z's and would trade them in a heart beat all for a Super Bee in the same condition as my best Z. However, that is my personal opinion, (favortism to the Mopar, not maarket values on the cars). As for the stripes themselves, that stripe is iconic to that car. The ZAP stripes are iconic to the Z. While they say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, sometimes attempting immitation ends up embarassing (can you say New Coke?).

Keep in mind what they say about opinions....... and every body has one.

I am toying with some different ideas right now, (even though I am 18 months till paint) and I applaud your out of the box thought process. When I used to race SCCA I would try different graphics using vynil adhesive self paper, it's cheap, adheres well enough to last several races and was easy to cut. I could not always find the exact color I wanted but I still got a longer look at the graphic and some feed back about the style from others at the track.

Ahhh.... I have seen that. I didn't like it. Try and imagine the GMish Rally stripes from the 70's. This looks really good on the cars and I have seen some V8 conversions use it as a 'hint' to the guy they just street raced as to why they got their asses waxed!

Your idea is a Mopar graphic and it clutters the long sexy lines of the car.

Ya im not a fan of this either but i had someone suggest it and wanted to see if anyone had seen it before on a z car.... There is plenty of room on the rear is you dont have a wrap around 240z bumper. If you have a clean rear end it might look pretty nice if the stripes were scaled down... idk

Tim, don't be dissuaded because some don't like it.

Heck, there are probably dozens of their ideas that would be equally revolting to others.

Customization has always been a touchy subject. One man's art is another's trash. The most important part, is how YOU feel about it.

Play with the idea, it may not be a direct copy of the Mopar stripe but if that's your starting point... who cares? Especially if the end product is appealing.

The BRE stripe -side to side at an angle , the GT stripe - end to end, the lower door stripe with the thinner edge stripes with your model number on it, the offset GT, all of those began as an idea derived from someone's imagination. I'll bet that there were dozens of curmudgeons putting down those ideas when asked. Nobody wants to be the lone monkey out on a limb, which is why we ask what people would think. But most of those people you ask probably can't imagine it and therefore put it down. If you have the vision, and can imagine the outcome... give it a shot.

So try it, change it, modify it, re-invent it... until YOU find one that "flows" from your imagination.

Worst case scenario.... YOU don't like it. Simple fix.. you remove it.

Best case scenario... you find that those same curmudgeons suddenly grudgingly approve of your stripes. Try not to rub it in too hard.
