I was wondering if someone could help me.. I am looking to buy a '76-'78 280z right now because I miss the first car I had in high school. I have the vin number for the car and I wanted to see what has happened to my old car. I bought it right around the time of 11-1-94, it had 29,513 miles showing on the odometer at the time (I'm pretty sure it was actually 129,513), and it was a black '78 280z 5-speed. It has now been over ten years so it could be that the car is gone now :(. It was 11 of 77 or 78 and the number on it was HLS30-438093. I sold it to a teen and his father around '96 or '97. The car was in DFW, TX when I bought it and it was sold in DFW, TX.

Thanks in advance to any help,

C

If you have the name of the person you sold it to, you might be able to contact them and find out what they know about the car's history. Otherwise you might try to run a carfax on the VIN to see if it shows up as being sold sometime recently. Carfax wont tell you who owns it, but it might be a lead on its existance.

Carfax won't work. It's not a 17 digit VIN.
