Recommended Posts

the seller is asking $250 with a lot of parts. Is somebody interested ? The car is located in Cummington, Mass.

It has the inner hatch weatherstrip i am looking for a so long time. Many good body panels.......I could be interested by some tid bits.

I should be interested to share the buying price with some members here if somebody is close enough from this location to pick up the car.

Why not use the real thing

Apparently not the same profile. I have been meaning to hunt down the original from my 10/70 to compare with the OEM replacement now available. I don't think it's in very good condition, but I will check. I also have one that has a tag hanging from it identifying it as being for a 1974 260Z. But that is not the one richard1 is looking for.

If I was local and wasn't running out of storage space I would consider dragging that Z home.

Here's the eBay ad for anyone interested.

I find it a bit ironic that someone in the scorching heat of Vegas is looking at a rusted out parts car in Massachusetts for rubber parts while people in salt-infested Massachusetts often look for rust-free body parts in your area.

Why not use the real thing

is a generic fit-all s30. I bought one and returned it because it is not the same profile.

Really? I thought they were all the same. I was thinking about getting the car but waiting to hear back from the seller on valve cover. Car looks like a 6/70 built car not a 71. vin 6820.

Hmm, richard maybe I will take you up on the offer.

he responded this morning by saying "buy the car and I will send you the parts you need......I will send everything else to the crusher".

Well...I will not pay $275.00 for just a 31" piece of original weatherstrip I need. He believes there is about a thousand dollars worth of parts.

I could be interested in a few spare parts but in no way I could make arrangement to ship this car to Las Vegas. I have no storage and not the time to dismantle....even less patience to play with rusty stuff.

of the 260 weatherstrip you sent me. The shape is mostly the same but from the picture, it seems that there is some metal at the clipping groove to the body.....am I correct?

The one on my 72 is just soft rubber and the flat top piece is 1/2" wide.

Some months ago, I found a 280 at a local scrap yard and I removed the weatherstrip. It is the exact profile now sold as repro OEM by Nissan that unfortunately doesn't match the early s30s.

Vintage Rubber will eventually produce the exact profile as per the owner but they are just at the design stage of the extrusion mold. They are well aware of the problem with the OEM Nissan fit-all generic part.

No, just dirty, no metal.

I hope Vintage Rubber does reproduce the correct profile for our cars, but it doesn't seem very economically feasible. I am just going to "make do" with the one from the Precision kit in the meantime.

It worth's looking closely if you want to sell me a piece or the entire weatherstrip no matter the overall condition.

Please, send me an email and your phone number: richarddube@cox.net

I've parted a couple of '71s in the past. Being that the car in question is a Series 1, I'd have to agree that parting it out should net someone $1000 or more. If it was close to me I'd probably do it.

Not really much left on the series one itself though. All panels are rough, interior is all gone....no dash..keys?...door missing.

True, but I allowed for that. The Series 1 I parted did have much of the interior, and I ended up selling almost $3000 worth of stuff off it. This one will not generate that much, not unless there are more cool parts than what I see in the auction.
